Art week.

Couple of weeks ago I promised to write something about distribution of alcohol in Iceland so here it is. The only place you can buy "normal" alcohol in Iceland is, so called, Vínbúð. It's a company owned by ÁTVR, which is a government company, who has a monopoly on the sale of alcoholic beverages in Iceland.
Iceland has very high taxes on alcohol. Tax rates in stores are not a percentage of price, but are proportionate to the alcohol content.
Usually there is only one of this kinds of stores in each city (maybe besides Reykjavik), so on Friday evening it can be pretty crowded there.
Besides Vínbúð you can always buy alcohol in pubs, clubs and restaurants, but it's even more expensive.
Vínbúð in Akureyri.

Later on this week there was an opening of a new exibition in Akureyri gallery. Mainly, there was a presentation of some work from Chineese artists. Some of the paintings:

On the bienalle there were many officials, president of Iceland was one of them. I had an opportunity to speak to him :)

Later on there was time for some refreshments.
